About the Builder
Greg Crawford has been a licensed residential builder in the Kalamazoo area since 1996. Greg operated as a sole proprietor under the name Crawford Construction until 2002, when he converted his business into the limited liability company of Greg Crawford Construction, L.L.C.
Greg has been a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Kalamazoo since 1999, and is also a member of the Michigan Association of Home Builders and the National Association of Home Builders. He participates in the annual Parade of Homes, with homes entered in 2000, 2001 and 2004. The 2004 parade home was the recipient of two Awards of Excellence from the Home Builders Association – Best Overall Presentation ($175,001-$300,000) and Best Master Suite (under 2,000 SF). Greg also had a home in the 2006 and 2007 Fall Builders Showcase.
In addition to being the general contractor of a project, Greg is a hands-on builder. He concentrates on quality building and attention to detail. He helps frame the home, does all of his own ceramic work, finish carpentry and punch-out. Greg prefers to keep the scope of his work limited to projects he can participate in, assuring a quality finished product.
Finish carpentry is Greg's specialty. Before he started building his own homes, he worked as a sub-contractor for other builders as a finish carpenter. He also worked for two years as a job superintendent for one of the largest builders in the area. Greg still does a limited amount of finish carpentry for other builders as well as some remodeling.
Greg is a life-long resident of the Kalamazoo area. He was co-owner of a commercial and residential painting company for five years before getting into the building industry. Before owning his own business, Greg worked for six years in apartment maintenance, where he got hands-on experience repairing and replacing everything from drywall to backflow preventers to floor covering.
